After selling out two upcoming performances of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana,” the Austin Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Austin have decided to open up the final rehearsal to the public.
And the concerts aren’t even for another couple of weeks. But the cacophonic “Carmina Burana” is nothing if not an audience favorite, Orff’s 1936 dramatic cantata based on medieval texts is one of the most oft-used in popular culture.
This is the first time since Peter Bay has been conductor of ASO that a dress rehearsal has ever been opened to the public.
The rehearsal is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday May 28 at the Long Center. Tickets are $20. www.austinsymphony.org
