East Austin Studio Tour expands its boundaries

The East Austin Studio Tour — by attendance the city’s largest single arts event — is slipping southward.

BASE_MAP_WEST_D_CS4Organizers  have announced today that the boundaries for the self-guided two-weekend tour of creative spaces, has expanded south to include the Montopolis neighborhood.

For the 14th iteration of the tour, artists and artisans working or living south of the river and north of Riverside Dr. may now apply to join EAST.

This year’s EAST is Nov. 14-15 & 21-22

Entry fee is $175 and the call for applications runs through Aug. 20.

The irony of the artist-run tour that started in 2003 is that it has been an undeniable factor in creating East Austin’s current popularity as a hip, creative place to live and play.  Just 28 studios were on that first tour. Last year the tour roster boasted 402 artists.
