Texas Commission on the Arts announces first round of 2016 grants

Texas Commission on the Arts has announced its first round of 2016 funding.

The state agency is awarding 901 grants totaling over $4.4 million to nonprofits and units of government in 112 Texas cities.

TCA commissioners also approved the designation of two new cultural districts: The Zona Cultural, in San Antonio, and the Wimberley Valley Cultural District.

The TCA awarded 138 grants to Austin organizations for a total of $746,213.
