Grammy Award-winning choir Conspirare releases “Pablo Neruda: The Poet Sings”

Austin’s Grammy Award-winning choir Conspirare has released its latest CD, “Pablo Neruda: The Poet Sings” on the Harmonia Mundi label.

A tribute Chilean poet and statesman Pablo Neruda (1904-1973), the recording features choral pieces by Austin composer Donald Grantham as well as Shawn Kirchner and Cary Ratcliff.

Below watch Grantham’s “La cancíon desesperada” as it was performed by Conspirare during at UT’s Bates Recital Hall in Sept. 2014 with Lauren Snouffer (soprano), James K. Bass (bass) and Stephen Redfield (violin). Craig Hella Johnson, conductor.
