Last fall, PostSecret creator Frank Warren stopped by the Long Center for a TED-style talk about the phenomenally popular mail art project and blog he launched in 2005.
Now, “PostSecret: The Show” is making its Austin debut March 22-27 at the Long Center.
Warren was a Maryland owner of a medical information company when in 2005 he decided to launch a community art project, handing out postcards to strangers or leaving cards in public places with the invitation to people to write down a secret they had never told anyone and mail it in anonymously.
The response was overwhelming, with millions sending in their secrets often on artfully decorated postcards.
Millions of monthly web site hits, six books and vast amounts of publicity later, “PostSecrets” now includes a theatrical show, described as a “visual, auditory and emotional journey through the beauty and complication of our deepest fears, ambitions and confessions.”
