Grammy-winning chorus Conspirare lays off top manager

Austin Grammy-winning chorus Conspirare has laid off its general manager, Paul Melroy.

Melroy, who joined the organization a little under three years ago, confirmed that his position had been terminated last weekend due to  cash flow problems.

Conspirare officials said that the group was undertaking “organizational restructuring.”

Led by artistic director Craig Hella Johnson, Conspirare has an annual budget of around $2 million. The group won a 2015 Grammy for Best Choral Performance for its recording The Sacred Spirit of Russia (Harmonia Mundi).
