Just over four months after he assumed the position as president and CEO of the Long Center for the Performing Arts, Marc Seriff has left the post, according to a statement from Long Center board chair Patsy Woods Martin.
Martin said Seriff’s departure was effective immediately and was “due to the unexpected and serious illness of his father.”
“Marc has long been committed to the arts in this community and the Long Center, in particular. I know this was a difficult decision for him, and we are keeping his family in our prayers,” Martin’s statement says.
“We hired Cory last year after an extensive national search and we have total confidence in her and her years of experience in actually running a performing arts center,” said Martin.
Recently, the Long Center encountered troubles concerning its new outside concert series. Some residents of nearby neighborhoods, the leaders of a city parks task force and Austin’s parks department have raised concerns about the Statesman Skyline Theater (to which the American-Statesman holds naming rights).
